Things I'm Learning At The Gap

1. Weekends are insane. Seriously, insane.
2. Gap actually has some really cute things, and the outlet is pretty fairly priced too. Win-win!
3. Cute guys shop in the Gap. Cute guys look really good in Gap clothes.
4. Cute babies also shop in the Gap.
5. Newborn baby stuff is SO. TINY.
6. Babies and kids do not enjoy shopping as much as their moms do.
7. Working 5 hours in Kids and Babies is a sure way to get a killer migraine. Note to self: take Excedrin before shifts in that section to avoid having an exploding skull in the middle of the shift.
8. Shoes that seem comfortable on any other normal day usually turn out to be quite painful if you're running around for 5 hours on them. So far, I've found I own only one pair of actually comfortable shoes, and they're suede boots. I may need to go shopping for comfy summer shoes soon.
9. Headsets hate me. They make everyone's ears hurt, but I seem to always get dead ones, so I end up wearing an earpiece for a walkie-talkie that isn't even working.
10. Did I mention cute guys shop in the Gap? It's particularly awesome to watch these guys come out of the fitting room looking very confused when you can tell their moms have shopped for them their whole lives. Also when they can't decide what they look best in and come out and model every shirt they've brought in with them.
11. Working at the Gap has given me hope again-- everyone working there thinks I'm still in high school. Last night a couple girls were talking about turning 21 and one turned to me and asked how old I was, since I wasn't joining in the conversation. She kept saying, "you're TWENTY-FIVE?! TWENTY-FIVE?! No way. TWENTY-FIVE?!" (Talk about a confidence boost-- maybe I'm not as old-looking as I feel! Yay!)

I dub thee...Pizza Von FrankenCrust

So my first attempt at making pizza can't exactly compete with most NJ pizzerias. Note to self: next time, buy a rolling pin to make sure the crust comes out in a normal size. In all fairness, the crust came out perfectly (even if it was two inches tall), and the homemade sauce and toppings were delish. Next time I'll arm myself with a rolling pin and make a pizza as good as the ones sold at Pete and Elda's.

Well it's been a while....

So....where to start?

Here's a quick run-down of the rest of January, February, and the first half of March:

1. My trip to Australia was amazing and way too short. Mel and Boosh's wedding was fun and simple but beautiful. Having a sunny, warm summer in the middle of January was a much-needed reprieve from the insane amounts of snow we had here this winter. Traveling business class on the way back was DEFINITELY the way to travel! I haven't felt that pampered in a long while. Leaving was definitely bittersweet. When I decided to study abroad there way back in 2006, I never thought a country could have such an impact on me. Anyway, I digress. The beginning of February found me yet again buried under mounds of snow taller than I am.

2. February wasn't very interesting. Lots of snow, lots of cold, and lots of boredom. True story.

That pretty much sums up February.

3. March has been a bit more interesting. I got a part-time job at The Gap Outlet. I haven't been given many hours there yet, but I'm sure they'll give me more as the summer gets closer. A few days ago I was woken up at 5:15AM by every fire truck in Monmouth County screaming a few streets down, where a fire had broken out in the basement of an abandoned hotel. I quickly got dressed, scooped Marm up, shut him in a small room in the back of the house so I could easily grab him if he needed to be evacuated, and ran out the door to check out the scene. The sky was an unnatural orange color, and as I got closer to the fire I could see black smoke billowing above it. It was probably the scariest thing I've watched in a long time. Eight houses were destroyed. I think I'll be a little jumpy whenever I hear fire trucks for a while.

I took some intense photos of my own, but I haven't yet uploaded them to my computer.

Anyway, that pretty much catches you up on what's been going on in my life. I've gotten a few different knitting projects done, but didn't take pictures of any of them, sorry. I should probably do that in the future. I should also work more on the quilt I'm making for my parents' friend in Spain. I just haven't had much motivation to take it all out and work on it if I don't have hours and hours free to get a lot done at once.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Jodi and Sunmi this weekend-- we're headed up to Williams to have a much-needed reunion. It's been a while.
